Method

For every family – every language – every child

What is this magic you speak of?

Kinesthetic learning – a complicated phrase for a refreshingly simple concept.

Learning through movement

Schools use three core learning styles to teach our children: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. As children grow and become individuals, these styles branch out into their unique learning language.

Kinesthetic learning is often associated with one of its more commonly-known branch styles: tactile (hands-on) learning. Hands-on s xlearning is an excellent method that is used by nearly all parents and early childcare facilities and includes everything from playing with pots and pans to beautiful learning philosophies such as Pikler and Montessori.

Deeply reinforce core learning concepts during active play.

Kinesthetic learning is a lesser-known option and involves the child physically moving herself around the space to deeply reinforce core learning concepts during active play. It is, first and foremost, a bonding exercise that truly engages contact between parent and child. Looking at one another, laughing, listening and responding to cues – deep connections.

We think that kinesthetic learning deserves a more prominent place in the toolkits of home-based learning.

The In A Flash method harnesses the power of kinesthetic learning.

A lifelong passion for learning begins in the earliest stages of childhood and is nurtured in the home. The In A Flash method harnesses the power of kinesthetic learning.

We call it the In A Flash method as a nod toward flashcards. They are, of course, flashcards – but we take it to the next level and incorporate the third component of the education triangle and get your little one moving to truly reinforce these concepts (while also having a blast and creating memories).

How movement stimulates information processing

When using the In A Flash cards, you begin by placing the cards throughout the room together with your child. You name what you see and your child looks at the illustrations.

Countless new connections in the time that it takes her to reach her target.

You then tell her to run to the red balloon and point to where she needs to go. She hears the word red, sees the red balloon and then moves herself toward the red balloon. As she moves toward the red balloon, neurons are firing away in her little mind and creating countless new connections in the time that it takes her to reach her target. To build confidence, you ‘bounce’ back and forth between two cards a few times (from green to red to green to red to green) and get her giggling up a storm.

Your child is freed from rules, limitations and instructions - there is simply no wrong way to play.

Improve responsiveness in little minds
Our children often follow orders throughout the day and as the ‘terrible twos’ approach, we see defiance popping up left and right. During the game, your child is freed from rules, limitations and instructions – there is simply no wrong way to play. No need for you to read through instructions while your son scatters game pieces throughout the living room. No need to correct him in his natural processes and exploration. The In A Flash cards are designed as a ‘grab-and-go’ product that you can instantly get started with. Simply jump into the deep end and let your child inspire the funniest, sweetest and most creative ways to move his active little body toward the cards he is excited to learn more about.

We want to know where our children are in terms of development and we want to join in the celebration of these new milestones.

Pinpoint your child’s current milestone targets
Many children enjoy time away from mom and dad at daycare or preschool. We can hardly keep up with the pace of their little minds. You may occasionally be blindsided by a chubby little hand pointing out new things during a bedtime story or by a toddler casually dropping big new words into her daily chatter. We want to know where our children are in terms of development and we want to join in the celebration of these new milestones. Trust us, we already made the mistake of scanning the internet for ‘common’ educational milestones and our children were either wildly behind or potential child geniuses. Preschool learning is all about taking the pressure off and enjoying the journey with your little one. With the In A Flash method, you can quickly pinpoint your child’s current interests within the stage that suits her general needs. Not sure where to start? Take this quick quiz! No matter where she starts, you will experience the joy of witnessing her confidence and knowledge soar.
